Tricuspid valve insufficiency is increasingly gaining relevance in the field of valve diseases. This is due to the growing number of studies and publications demonstrating that it is not merely a bystander but rather has prognostic implications and impacts the quality of life of those affected. In addition to the advancement in diagnostic methods with echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, surgical techniques have been improved, and new percutaneous treatment devices have been developed, which will likely change the future management of this valvular disease. Therefore, we believe it is important to understand anatomy and different etiologies, in order to comprehend the mechanisms involved in the insufficiency and consider appropriate therapeutic options.Downloads
