Abstract

Quadricuspid aortic valve is the least common congenital anomaly within the spectrum of anatomical variants of such valve, which can be accompanied by other cardiac malformations. Clinical presentation depends on the functional status of the valve; usually the pathophysiological mechanism is central valve insufficiency due to poor coaptation of its leaflets, requiring surgical repair in most cases. This report reviews the salient features of quadricuspid aortic valve, with special emphasis on the complementary value provided by multimodality imaging.
