Abstract

For many reasons, surgery is not available in a high proportion of patients with Mitral Regurgitation. For them, medical treatment can ameliorate symptoms but doesn’t improve the ominous prognosis of the disease. Percutaneous edge-to-edge repair with Mitraclip allows to address inoperable or high surgical risk patients or those in whom surgery is not indicated. This therapy is available in Argentina since 2015. In this paper we review available evidence and aspects related to patient selection for Mitraclip therapy.
