Abstract

Generally, when facing a disease that involves the aortic root, the surgical technique is based on the complete resection of the aortic root, including the aortic valve, which may or may not be compromised by the disease (Bentall and de Bono surgery). Now, the possibility of preserving the aortic valve by replacing the complete root is an excellent alternative, since in this way a mechanical or biological valve prosthesis can be avoided, along with the consequences of implantation in the long term. For this, there are valvular preservation techniques (Tirone David or Yacoub surgery).
