Prevalencia de aneurisma de aorta abdominal mediante screening ecográfico en población mayor de 50 años: registro multicéntrico argentino (SCREANRA)

Introducción: los aneurismas de aorta abdominal (AAA) constituyen una patología vascular asociada a elevada morbilidad y mortalidad, especialmente cuando se produce su ruptura. Su prevalencia aumenta con la edad, siendo más frecuente en individuos mayores de 65 años, aunque puede presentarse a partir de los 50 años en presencia de factores de riesgo cardiovasculares. Entre los más relevantes se destacan el tabaquismo, la hipertensión arterial y la enfermedad aterosclerótica. La mayoría de los pacientes con AAA permanece asintomática durante largos períodos, por lo que el diagnóstico suele realizarse de forma incidental o ante la aparición de complicaciones. La detección precoz mediante ultrasonido permite identificar aneurismas en etapas tempranas y favorecer su seguimiento clínico. Material y métodos: durante estudios ecográficos cardiovasculares o abdominales se midieron los diámetros anteroposterior y transverso de la aorta abdominal. Se incluyeron pacientes mayores de 50 años con factores de riesgo para AAA. Participaron centros médicos públicos y privados de distintas provincias argentinas. Resultados: se incluyeron 2148 pacientes, 1063 hombres y 1085 mujeres. Se detectaron 77 AAA con una prevalencia global de 3,58%%. La mayoría se observó en pacientes mayores de 65 años. Conclusiones: la evaluación ecográfica de la aorta abdominal durante estudios cardiovasculares o vasculares permite detectar AAA en pacientes con factores de riesgo.
